What it does
lexware-php-mcp connects Lexware Office (formerly lexoffice) to Claude Desktop. You ask in plain language, for example: "Which invoices are overdue, and by how many days?" Lexware Office is a German product, so the examples assume a German account.
Currently there is one tool, open_items. It lists unpaid outgoing invoices, both open and overdue. The oldest due date comes first, together with the days overdue and the totals per currency. All amounts are gross.
Setup in Claude Desktop
You need no programming skills and no PHP. First create a public API key at https://app.lexware.de/addons/public-api.
Then download the extension (.mcpb) for your system, macOS or Windows, and double-click the file. Click "Install" and paste your key.
Claude Desktop shows a warning beforehand because the extension is not signed. The detailed guide is in the README (in German).
Security and limits
The tool is read-only: it only sends GET requests to Lexware Office and changes nothing. The API key is read from the environment only and never appears in output.
IBAN, BIC and account details are removed before data reaches the model. Requests are throttled to 2 per second.
Whatever a tool returns goes to the provider of your AI assistant, which is Anthropic for Claude Desktop. Keep that in mind before you ask questions about your invoices.
The project is unofficial and has no connection to Haufe Group. Lexware and lexoffice are trademarks of Haufe Group. The Windows extension is built and tested automatically, but the author has not tried it on a Windows PC.
